Happy New Year!

We have bounced into the New Year with our excellent gymnastic skills in P.E.! We have been recapping different positions and we are now learning all about flight. We have been practising different types of jumps and learning how to land safely. We enjoy doing PE, moving around and keeping active!

Christmas has arrived in Crimple Class! We have been really busy decorating our classroom. We have made some festive paper chains, snowflakes, some Christmas trees and robins using a range of different materials and techniques. We also decorated our Christmas Tree with baubles and lights. All the children have also had the opportunity of opening the Class Advent Calendar and seeing what's behind the doors. We have had an excellent term and we wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a happy new year! See you all in 2018!

We had some visitors from Sweden this term as part of Culture Day. In Crimple Class we learnt all about the United Kingdom and the Union Jack. We did some art work with the goal of creating our own Union Jack. We had to take a small square of card that had codes on it, following the instructions carefully to make sure we knew what colour each code was. When creating our square, we had the option of using a range of materials such as: coloured wool, paint, crayon, pen, pastels, crepe paper and pencils. Once all the squares were complete we had to put them all together like a puzzle. This was our result:

It is Anti-Bullying week at school and the children have had a go at some activities that focus on being a good friend. Today the children got into partners and thought of some kind words about their partner. They wrote these words and sentences onto a piece of card surrounding a hole where their partner could put their face through. The children came up with some great words to describe their partner!

Welcome back! I hope you all had a lovely half term holiday and had a good rest. This term our topic is called Woodland Wonderland. We started the week off by learning all about deciduous and evergreen trees. The children were also introduced to the artist, Gustav Klimt. We looked at his painting, 'The tree of life', and even had a go at creating our own. The children had to choose autumnal colours for their piece of art and used swirls similar to the style of Klimt.

This term we have been reading the book 'The tiger who came to tea.' We have really enjoyed reading this story. We have acted out the story in front of a small audience and have even had a go at writing our own 'tiger who came to tea,' story!

This week we have designed and created a fruit kebab as part of our Design and Technology learning. We also wrote a list of equipment and ingredients. We even wrote a step by step method in our English lessons! We really enjoyed eating our fruit kebabs once they were all completed. They tasted 'nice,' 'yummy,' 'delicious,' 'magnificent,' 'sweet,' and 'juicy.'
