School Games News 2017-2018

Year 4 cricket

Pudsey St Lawrence Cricket Club 16.7.18

A team of children from Year 4 played in a cricket competition with 7 local schools. They had a great day out and played some fantastic cricket. They won 3 of their 5 games and represented the school brilliantly. Well played Year 4!

Orienteering

Bramley Fall Woods 12.7.18

Eight children from Year 5 tried out a brand new event for Valley View! They used maps to complete 4 courses around the woods. They represented the school perfectly and nobody got lost! Well done Year 5!

Bramley Olympics

John Charles Stadium for Sport 26.6.18

Three teams of athletes from Year 2, Year 3/4 and Year 5/6 competed against the 7 other schools in our cluster at the Bramley Olympics. This is a very exciting Olympic style event where the children compete on the track at the stadium. Cheered on by our fabulous cheerleaders our children performed brilliantly to win the competition! We are Champions again! Well done everybody, we are very proud of you all.

 

Year 5/6 Golf

Leeds West Academy 21.6.18

A team of children from Year 5 and Year 6 played in the West Leeds Golf Competition at Leeds West. Their skills improved tremendously over the evening and they finished the event in first place. They are now West Leeds champions. Well played team!

Year 6 Rugby

Crawshaw 14.6.18

A team of girls played in a big tag rugby competition at Crawshaw High School. They played brilliantly as a team to win and draw all their group matches. Unfortunately they didn't qualify for the next round but we are very proud of their performance. Well played girls!

 

Year 2 Rainbow Club

Leeds West Academy 7.6.18

Ten children from Year 2 tried out some different activities at Leeds West. They tried out running, aiming, skipping, balancing, dribbling and throwing! Well done Year 2.

  

Brownlee Triathlon

John Charles Centre for Sport 25.5.18

A group of children from Year 5 and 6 had a go at a mini triathlon at John Charles Centre for Sport. The event is inspired by the Brownlee Brothers who have set up a foundation to give back to the community. The children swam, cycled and ran.They had a fantastic time despite the rain!  Well done to everybody involved, including the staff who took part too!

Leeds West Academy 24.5.18

A group of children from Year 5 and 6 tried out golf at Leeds West. They carried out various activities and their golfing skills progressed brilliantly over the evening! Well played!

 

       

       

Year 6 Cricket

Leeds West Academy 17.5.18

A team of Year 6 girls played in a friendly event at Leeds West. They batted and fielded well and won both their games. Fantastic!

Two teams of children from Year 6 played some friendly cricket matches against local schools. They had a great time and one of the teams won all their games! Well done!

 

 

Year 5 football

Leeds West Academy 3.5.18

A team of Year 5 boys played a friendly competition at Leeds West. For this brand new team it was their first football event for Valley View! Although they didn't win they showed excellent team spirit and improved over the night. A special well done goes to our goalkeeper who saved a penalty! Well done.

Year 4 Football

Leeds West Academy 26.4.18

The second half of Year 4 Football Club played in a competition at Leeds West with 5 other schools. They got off to a fantastic start winning their first game 4 - 0! They played some great football and represented the school brilliantly. Well done.

Year 4 Football

Valley View 19.4.18

Half of Year 4 Football Club played in a football competition against schools from our local area. It was the first time they had ever played football for Valley View!  We are very proud of how well they played in a very close competition. They won and drew most of their games to finish the evening in 4th place. Fantastic!

Y6 Rugby

Stanningley Rugby Club 17.4.18

Year 6 Rugby Club played in a competition at Stanningley  Rugby Club on Tuesday afternoon. They played some fantastic rugby to finish runners up in their group! Well done! 

Multiskills

Leeds West Academy 29.3.18

A group of children from Year 5/6 tried out some new activities at a multi-skills event Leeds West. They played Tri-golf, Boccia, Goal ball and tried New Aged Curling. They had a great time!

Rugby

Valley View 22.3.18

A team of Year 4 children played in a competition with 5 local schools. It was the first competitive event for a lot of the team and they represented the school brilliantly! They won 2 and drew 2 games to finish the evening in third position. Well played team!

 

Football

Valley View 13.3.18

Our Year 6 football team played their final league competition against local schools on very muddy pitches! Although the team competed well, especially in defence they finished out of the qualifying positions for the next round. They  represented the school well and showed good sportsmanship. Well played boys!

Rugby

Leeds West Academy 23.2.18

A group of Year 6 children participated in a training session with staff from Leeds West. They practised passing and played a small sided game. They mixed in really well with the other schools and learnt a lot. Well played Year 6!

            

  

Badminton

Leeds West Academy 23.2.18

Five children from Year 6 enjoyed a badminton coaching session ran by Horsforth Badminton Club at Leeds West. They were taught how to serve and how to play different strokes. They learnt a lot and joined in with great enthusiasm.

 

      

                         

Tennis

Leeds West Academy 1.2.18

A team of Year 4 and Year 5 children played in a tennis competition at Leeds West. They represented the school brilliantly and their tennis skills improved over the night. Although they didn't win the competitions they did win a lot of games. They Year 5 competition was incredibly close! Well played everyone!

 

Netball

Leeds West Academy  25.1.18

A different team of girls played in the second night of a competition at Leeds West. They played some fantastic netball to add to the points our other team scored last week. Over the two competition nights our girls have been fantastic and they have been  perfect role models for our school. They only lost one game and that was a very close 1-0! Well played to everybody involved!

Leeds West Academy 23.1.18

A team of Year 4 and a team of Year 5 children played in a competition at Leeds West Academy. Mrs Stuttard took the children and was impressed with their amazing attitudes and good sportsmanship. Well played!

Our netball team played in a competition against local schools. They passed the ball really well and worked hard as a team. They won and drew their games. Well played girls!

 

Badminton

Leeds West Academy 7.12.17

A group of children from Years 5 and 6 tried out different badminton activities at Leeds West with children from local schools. This is a brand new sport for Valley View! The children had a great time, learnt a lot and represented the school brilliantly. Well done everybody.

Our Year 5 girls football team played in a friendly competition at Leeds West. It was the first time some of the team had ever represented Valley View in a sports event. They played some fantastic football and supported and encouraged each other very well. Although they didn't win the competition they learnt a lot and represented the school brilliantly. Well played girls!

Priesthorpe 13.11.17

A team of athletes from Year 6 competed in a very exciting event at Priesthorpe. The chidren won several races and performed really well in the field events, especially the javelin. They ended the competition in 3rd place. A great result, well done team.

A team of children played in an indoor competition at Leeds West against local schools. They played some amazing football and worked well as a team. A special well done goes to our goalkeeper who had an amazing competition and made some vital saves. Well played team!

Leeds West Academy 12.10 17

Year 6 played the first league competition of the season. They played some great football and ended the evening in joint 2nd place. The second league competition will take place after Christmas. Keep practising boys!

 

Athletics

Leeds West Academy 5.10.17

 A team of Year 6 children competed in a friendly competition at Leeds West with 3 local schools. It was the first athletics event for most of the team. They all ran, jumped and threw their very best representing the school really well. What a brilliant first competition, well done!

 

Cross Country

Leeds West Academy 28.10.17

Children from Years 5 and 6 competed in cross country races against local schools. They all showed amazing perseverance to complete the very long, muddy course. A special well done goes to Maddison (Year 5 girls), Thomas (Year 5 boys) and Logan (Year 6 boys )who all won their races! Brilliant.   Well done to everybody involved.

Netball

Leeds West Academy  21.9.17

A group of girls attended a netball skills session at Leeds West. They practised lots of netball skills and worked with children from other schools. We are proud of the way they represented the school and impressed with what they learnt. Well done girls!
