Limley Class 2019-2020

Thursday 5th March

Today was World Book Day so we had a lovely time celebrating our love of reading. We enjoyed sharing our Book in a Box homework and trying to guess which story they were based on. In the afternoon, we looked at the author and illustrator Jackie Morris. Firstly we used pencil to sketch some of her illustrations and then we moved on to creating the same image in watercolour. Here are some of our Book in a Box and some of our sketches.

Thursday 23rd January

Last week we were lucky enough to spend three days at Lineham Farm. Our days were filled with challenging activities, like bike riding, climbing and completing an assault-course blindfolded. Every single child impressed all of the adults with their positivity, determination and resilience. Here are some of our best bits!

Happy New Year! This week in our maths lessons we have been learning about triangles. We learnt about the different types, their features and also created some using paper straws. Here are some pictures of one of our sessions where we did lots of practical activities.

Thursday 12th December

During our recent topic lessons, we have been designing a decorative light-box. This week we created prototypes of our structure. We tested which materials worked best at being free-standing and sturdy. Afterwards we discussed what worked well with our structures and what we could do to improve them. Here are some of our prototypes!

Thursday 5th December

Recently, in our RE lessons, we have been learning all about the celebration of Hannukah. We have looked at why lighting the Menorah candle is important to Jews and have created our own Menorahs in collage.

Thursday 14th November 2019

This week Limley Class took part in a short drama performance of The Witches. The class performed a short extract from the story by Roald Dahl and used many of the drama skills they had learnt through weekly drama sessions. The final performance was a great success, with the children delivering their lines clearly and with fantastic expression. Well done Limley!

Thursday 24th October 2019

This week we have been making Roman coin purses. We looked at variety of different styles before using a template for our final design. After choosing a fabric, we then carefully cut out our design before sewing together using back-stitch. To make sure our coins wouldn't fall out, we finished the purse with a drawstring fastening.

Thursday 10th October 2019

Recently the class have been taking part in drama sessions with our specialist drama teacher, Christabel. During these sessions the children have been practising different drama techniques. We can now effectively perform scenes from Roald Dahl's The Witches and think carefully about the position of our bodies, so as to create an effective stage presence.
