PSHE
Intent
The aim of our PSHE and RSE curriculum is to prepare our children for adult life in a world that is rapidly changing and often challenging. Through our curriculum children will learn to persevere even when things are tough and develop resilience to tackle the challenges that living in an increasing complex world brings.
We will develop a sense of community where children learn to collaborate, share and respect diversity. We want every child to know that they are special in their own way to speak up for themselves and others and to celebrate their own and others successes.
Implementation
At Valley View, our PSHE lessons, including RSE, follow the You, Me and PSHE scheme (recommended across Leeds). This includes a progression document that maps out what should be taught in each year group to ensure that all statutory and non-statutory objectives are covered across the school. The scheme allows for children to make links between learning by retrieving previous learning at the start of each unit. Our PSHE lessons help our children to develop their Growth Mindset and provide opportunities for children to work collaboratively.
